Visualization Challenge @ Asian Development Bank

I am a month late to realize this is open, but for those interested and eligible(see note below)—application deadline is 20 December:

The challenge is to use one’s creativity and imagination to help answer a question relevant to development policy by writing a data story or building a data visualization featuring data from the Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific. Below are sample questions:

  • Show the development trajectory of Asia and the Pacific with respect to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other development themes.
  • Find interlinkages, synergies, and tradeoffs between different development trends as depicted by indicators featured in the Key Indicators for Asia and the Pacific.

You can come up with your own questions to put your analytical, data storytelling, and visualization skills to the test!

Eligibility is a bit restrictive: One must be from an ADB developing member country:

Afghanistan; Armenia; Azerbaijan; Bangladesh; Bhutan; Brunei Darussalam; Cambodia; Cook Islands; Federated States of Micronesia; Georgia; India; Indonesia; Fiji; Hong Kong, China; Kazakhstan; Kiribati; Kyrgyz Republic; Lao People’s Democratic Republic; Malaysia; Maldives; Marshall Islands; Mongolia; Myanmar; Nauru; Nepal; Niue; Pakistan; Palau; Papua New Guinea; People’s Republic of China;Philippines; Republic of Korea; Samoa; Singapore; Solomon Islands; Sri Lanka; Taipei,China; Tajikistan; Thailand; Timor-Leste; Tonga; Turkmenistan; Tuvalu; Uzbekistan; Vanuatu; Viet Nam.
