While browsing Wikipedia, I was asking myself if there are some geographical inequalities in “access to Wikipedia”? Are people born in some areas have a higher probability of becoming famous enough to have a wikipedia page?
I’ve finally run a first study looking at people born in France between 1975 and 1990. I compute the probability of having a Wikipedia page in Wikipedia in French depending in the department of birth : Does your birthplace affect your probability to have your Wikipedia biography ? some evidence from people born in France. / PAC / Observable. I have a complementary analysis here Appendix to "Does your birthplace affect your probability to have a Wikipedia biography?" / PAC / Observable with data about birthplace and occupation.
I’ll be happy to run similar studies on other countries if I find longitudinal birth data.
