The notebook titles are taken from the first markdown cell. Now this could be very confusing for new and experienced users as well.
The better user experience is to provide a way to edit the notebook title by simply clicking the title of the page or from the drop down(…) menu when in list view. This is standard way to UX design from other notebook servers.
