Hey, I was wondering if anyone else here is submitting anything to 3B1B’s Summer of Math Exposition contest?
I submitted my recent notebook for explaining binary and hexademical numbers, and positional notation in general:
It’s probably a bit too narrow and basic a topic to win anything, but that’s fine. My motivation was to lower the threshold for learning a pretty fundamental skill for programming, so I’m mainly joining to “spread the word”.
If anyone has any feedback on things that could be clearer, or other ideas for making the explanation even more accessible please let me know! And if anyone else is submitting anything please share, I’d love to read/watch and give early feedback!
Very cool notebook, its very much how I think of generalising to binary. I did not really read the prose as I am familiar with the material but the interactive things felt quite intuitive and fun and hammers the point home.
No worries, I probably would have skimmed it too. Also I have enough friends and family who can’t read binary or hexadecimal (yet) whom I can and should ask to proofread anyway
