We’ve got a midterm election here in the US next Tuesday. Nationwide maps illustrating US Congressional and/or Senate battles are easy to find. Maps to illustrate what might happen for state legislatures are much harder to find. In part, this might be due to the lack of solid polling data at that level. An alternative is to use Democratic vs Republican vote share from recent statewide elections. One good place to obtain that data is from the Princeton Gerrymandering Project. I used their data from North Carolina, in particular, to generate this visualization:
