I’ve been running into a very persistent and frustrating issue with my notebooks for the past few weeks, and I’m hoping someone here might know how to fix it.
While working on my dashboards, I constantly get this popup error message:
Warning: unable to save changes. Changes may be lost if you continue editing or close this window. Open this notebook in a new window to see which changes were saved.
It’s been happening constantly, making it really difficult to edit with confidence since I’m always worried about losing my progress.
Has anyone else been dealing with this recently? Is there a specific cause for this sync issue, or something I might be doing wrong on my end that triggers it? Any advice or workarounds would be hugely appreciated!
First question since it’s the most common cause: do you have any browser extensions running that could be getting in the way? If you do, could you try disabling all of them to see if that helps? We can try to get things working with extensions, but it’ll help to identify if this is the problem first.
If not that, then do you see any other warnings in your devtools console? Do you know how to access that in your browser?
Actually, I think I’ve narrowed down the cause to a bug on our side. Did you happen to use Export to JavaScript or HTML on the notebooks you’re editing? Afterwards, the editor seems to get into a state where it fails saving consistently unless you reload. Working on a fix.
Ok I’ve deployed a fix for the bad state after exporting a notebook. Hopefully that covers what you’re seeing. Let me know if that helps or if you never even touched the export functionality and we can try to narrow down what you’re seeing.
