extending the chart cell type?

I’m really enjoying using the Chart cell type

When I convene visualization workshops with beginners, I use this during our hands on exercises. This got me wondering, is there a way to extend the system so that I can add other Observable Plot variations to it?

I think this would be really useful for me and other vis educators looking to bring people into observable slowly, or using a domain specific set of visualization offerings.
