Best way to create permalinks to a specific state of a notebook

I have a notebook that has been evolving over the course of months, and every so often I want to share a version of it with a collaborator. Once I’ve shared that version, I typically don’t want my subsequent edits to the notebook to affect the notebook pointed to by the link I shared.

There are two clear ways to achieve this kind of “permalink” to a notebook version, as I understand it:

  1. adding the version number at the end of the URL.
  2. forking the notebook, sharing one of the copies, keeping track of which version has been shared, and taking care not to unintentionally edit that notebook.

Have I missed anything? I’m not subscribed to Pro, and not sure if Pro makes this any easier.

Thanks for any comments people might have.

Hi @theohonohan ,
There is a feature called ‘Pause live notebook’ that pins the default version for viewers to the current version.

You can then continue editing the notebook, and republish your changes when you want to update the paused version to the latest version.

You can read more about the feature here:

Ideal, thank you.
