Hi. When I use the AI function with Observable Desktop, I get a red-bounded box around the chat input and then in gray “Type Error: Load failed” within the input field. I have re-entered my Anthropic API key several times, reset it, made a new one. It doesn’t seem to be my API key. Any hints?
Are you done with Bring Your Own (Anthropic) Key to the Observable Desktop? Will we have the agents of New Observable plumbed into the Desktop any time soon?
I very much hope so, because I would like my student users on the Mac platform to have the option of using the Observable Desktop editor locally.
I’m seeing the same error; I think we must’ve broken the API endpoint. Will look into it…

The desktop agent already has the same prompts, context, and tools as on the web. (Eventually they’ll diverge somewhat as each adapts to how files work differently etc.)
