To edit a cell, one must click in the margin, but in fullscreen mode the margin is gone.
Also in the same category: can we trigger the fullscreen mode from code, a button to click or a hotkey?

Yep, that’s true - fullscreen is intended to be used for presentations and the like, rather than editing. Showing more UI would inevitably reduce the fullscreen functionality’s usefulness for giving presentations and showing dashboards. You can use the browser’s native fullscreen of a notebook page if you want the default Observable interface to be fullscreen.
And, as far as I can tell, there’s no way for the bottom frame to request fullscreen because of the browser’s security rules, but I’ll look into it.
Wouldn’t you just get a pop-up saying that a website is requesting full-screen?
