Made a small theme switcher just for fun.
this userspace chooser works really well on the new site coz its the real Observable Notebook 2.0 themes (which are MIT licensed).
I guess they will add those at some point, if not already.

Yup itâs on the list (but low priority rn)
Updated it for recent changes and fixed some of the annoying bugs
I like the idea of a dark mode for the editor, and we already have themes for notebooks so we could have a user preference for your default theme. But I donât like the idea of your user preference overriding the authorâs preference when you visit someone elseâs notebook; perhaps authors could opt-in to a responsive theme, but itâs more work to design a notebook that works well in both light and dark mode so I wouldnât make that the default (and this was ultimately the demise of our previous support for dark mode).
It might be jarring to bounce between Observable notebooks and have the theme frequently changing between light and dark mode, though. (And of course you could tinker with the notebook to change the theme, but thatâs work for you as the reader.)
What do you think?
I think each notebook having an option to define whether it supports a single theme or multiple themes would be good.
When youâre reading a notebook, it only follows the readerâs preference if the notebook supports both.
