# New modal to create notebooks from Templates

### _New_ modal to create notebooks from Templates

It’s now easy to use any [Observable Template](https://observablehq.com/templates) as a starting point for you new notebook.  
Just click on the New Notebook icon and select the template you want to start with.  
You can still start with a blank notebook if you want to, but Observable Templates get you to a shareable, publishable notebook faster than ever before.

_This new notebook modal can easily get you started with a Template._

**Note:** The _New_ modal is currently available in Observable Next (the latest version of the Observable platform). To opt-in to Observable Next, enable experimental features.
