Thanks for the quick and carefully thought-out reply! I understand, including what you say about not referencing cells themselves in 2.0. I’ll only say again that I, for one, can’t wait to be able to reference a variable name that, basically, points to a DOM node containing the Markdown/HTML in cells of that nature. HTML cells can at least be given an id according to the usual conventions but adding such an id to a Markdown cell works against its editing-affordances. So, being able to handily reference Markdown cells in particular is something I long to be able to do (again, like I could in old.observable 
).
