Hi @keithpjolley, and welcome to the community!

Are you just looking to play with exiting notebooks offline, or are you wanting to author them too?

Have you seen this:

> **[Advanced Embedding and Downloading](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/downloading-and-embedding-notebooks)**
>
> A notebook is a portable module that can integrate with an application’s data and UI. Illustration: ClipArt ETC So, you’ve written your magnum opus: a notebook full of splendor and delight. Maybe you’ve embedded it on your blog for all to see. Now,...

Basically, you can run any notebook offline just by downloading the code as a tarball, unzipping it, throwing up a local server[ref1](https://talk.observablehq.com/t/notebook-to-vanilla-javascript-steps/1644/14), [ref2](https://talk.observablehq.com/t/cors-error-when-trying-to-include-notebook-locally/1439/2), and then double opening the index file.

Does this help, or am I misinterpreting your question?
