# Desktop AI - "Error: An error occurred"

When trying to use Desktop AI, I get this message. I have tried resetting the Anthropic Key and reinstalling latest Desktop build.

Using: macOS 27.0, Observable Desktop Version 1.6.0 (1.0)

Hm, it’s working for me right now, on the same version of the app. Sorry James! Could you look at the console and pass along any errors you see there? You can open it with Cmd-Opt-I.

(Our app is built on [Tauri](https://v2.tauri.app/) so it uses the system browser, _i.e._ Safari here, so it has those dev tools.)

(We also broke Desktop [the other day](https://talk.observablehq.com/t/observable-desktop-ai-type-error/10831) but this seems different.)

Yep - I saw that other problem, but the error message was different, so I think this is different issue.

Nothing in the console as far as I can tell. Short video attached and console output appended. I think all of the console output was from loading and reloading the notebook. If I open a fresh file, open the console, clear the console and then send a message to the AI Chat, then nothing appears in the console at all.
