# Data Table cell!

I’m excited to announce the launch of the Data Table cell, a new cell that allows you to connect to and view tabular data from a live data source! The cell supports direct manipulation of data, including filtering, selecting/deselecting columns, sorting, and slicing. And, if you need to run a more complex query, you can eject to a [SQL cell](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/sql)!

At the moment, the cell supports connections to [remote databases](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/databases), and uploaded file attachments through Observable’s [SQLite Database Client](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/sqlite). You can also use a custom Database Client implementation, which must comply with our [Database Client specification](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/database-client-specification). We plan to expand support to more data source types in the future.
