# Beta Release of Observable Plot

We’re excited to announce the first beta release of Observable Plot, a new open-source library for exploratory data visualization. It’s concise enough that many charts are just one line of code, but it also has the expressiveness to compose intricate multilayered graphics.

We’ve also prepared two guided tutorials exploring data on [penguins](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/plot-exploration-penguins) or [weather](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/plot-exploration-weather), and observations from our own experience of [how it compares to Vega-Lite](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/plot-vega-lite) and [how it compares to D3](https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/plot-for-d3-users).
